moblin UI customization

moblin UI customization

Postby alef » Fri Oct 02, 2009 9:47 am

hello,

Is there any way to customize the moblin UI?

For example, I prefer to use Firefox as default web browser rather than Chrome. I have installed Firefox and set it up as default application, but the Internet section of the top toolbar still opens chrome whenever I type a url.

Same for the feed reader, how can we remove twitter and last.fm, and add something else instead ?

Also in Myzone, I would like to remove the Calendar which I am not using.

Thanks for telling me how to do this, I hope this system will have enough flexibility to be tweaked :)

I'd also like to know if there's a way to get rid of the reminder that pops up to tell you where the top dropdown bar is. I've been using it for a while now, and I get it. OTOH, I've been installing and re-installing moblin on the same netbook for a while now, so maybe it's just a feature of fresh installs, and "goes away" after a while? Anybody know?

Hello Guys! First post on this Forum ;)

If you want to put Firefox as Default browser you have to do this :

1 : From the "software add/removal tools" delete the moblin-web-browser package

2 : In the console go into /usr/local/bin, type "su" and write :
Code: Select all
cat > moblin-web-browser << EOF
#!/bin/sh
firefox ${*#-I}
EOF

3 : In the console write
Code: Select all
chmod +x moblin-web-browser

Done!

(Sorry for my English) ;)

Use the "Wallpaper & Fonts" shortcut in "Applications > Settings"
